UI or 3D object, What to do With The Gameboard

When initially starting the project, I was undecided on if I wanted the gameboard to be a 2D UI asset or a 3D object within the world. There were some good reasons to do both, such as if I went with the UI asset, I could more directly integrate the trading cards and other UI features. On the other hand, if I made it a 3D object in the world, I can play around with depth and backgrounds a lot easier.
After some back and fourth, and talking with my teammate about our options, I decided to make it a 3D object. It allows for playing with depth, and having the option to then make the cards themselves objects and play with where they interact between the board and the UI. It also allows for more interesting animations with the cards and possible enemies later in development.
